My house shall be a house of prayer for all peoples. -Isaiah 56:7
Temple Sinai is enriched by the many interfaith families in our congregation and we actively encourage your participation in our synagogue. We recognize that every family is unique. Our interfaith families include people of diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and views on Judaism.
Interfaith couples and th
eir families are often blessed by the blending of differing cultural traditions but they often face special challenges as well. Our goal is to serve as a friendly and informative resource for both the Jewish and the non-Jewish member. We are here to empower you to learn more about Judaism, consider making Jewish choices, and deepen your connection to the Temple Sinai community.
To our non-Jewish members: Temple Sinai warmly opens our doors and our hearts to you. Whether you are affiliated with other religious institutions, or Temple Sinai is your only congregation, this synagogue is a place you can call home. You are a part of our Temple family. Our programs focus on interfaith couples and their extended families, but often attract Jews by birth, and those curious about Judaism. Workshops address the emotional, social, and spiritual questions and concerns of a family with two different religious traditions. We also discuss the potential discomfort of engaging in "organized religion." Some of our past workshops include:
- Ask A Rabbi
- A Rabbi’s View of God and Prayer
- How I decided to Raise My Kids Jewish
- How to Host a Passover Seder
- Jews and Christians
