We will examine the changes in the Reform Movement's approach to Israel and Zionism from the past through current times beginning with the Pittsburgh Platform of 1885 and ending with recent platforms of the Reform Movement's stand on Israel.

As part of the examination of primary sources, we will also see how the place of Jews in the general society influenced our movement's approach to Israel and Zionism. The Jews of San Francisco will play an important and interesting role in our discussions of the Reform Movement and Zionism.
