The Social Action Committee initiates and supports local community projects, provides informative programs to the Temple community meant to inspire tikkun olam, and conducts advocacy around social justice issues. Major activities include the annual Freedom Seder, a Social Action Shabbat, community organizing with Oakland Community Organizations, and The People of the Book Literacy Project. We also work with the Religious School, Preschool, and Midrasha programs to develop age-appropriate Social Action activities.
We welcome new members to our dynamic Committee. Meeting dates are announced in the weekly bulletin and to those on the Social Action e-mail list. For more information or to be added to the e-mail list, contact one of the co-chairs, Teri Bleckner or Helen Smiler. Come help us shape the future of Social Action at Temple Sinai.
