Adult Education—Ongoing Classes

Adult Hebrew Classes

Class G: Beginning Prayerbook for Hebrew Readers
Wednesdays 6:30 – 7:45pm. New students welcome but not for total beginners.
On summer break after June 5. New trimester begins September 4.

This class is for those who can minimally decode Hebrew. We do a lot of reading review, have learned the basic holiday and Shabbat blessings, and will begin a study of the prayer service: its structure, and the meaning of the prayers. Those who wish to learn the chants will have an opportunity to do so. Course will focus on the first rubric of the Shabbat service, the Shema and Its Blessings.

Class E: Continuing Prayerbook Hebrew
Mondays 6:30 – 7:45pm. New Students Welcome. Summer session starts July 8 and ends September 23.

The class, which includes adult B' Mitzvah students as well as others interested in enhancing their understanding and participation in services, will review reading or chanting all the basic prayers of the Shabbat service, explain and practice enough grammar to help you read for meaning, and will include translating selections from a Torah and/or Haftarah portion.
Class F: Modern Hebrew Conversation
Tuesdays 5:00 – 6:15pm. New students welcome. Class is ongoing and can be joined anytime. Registration will be prorated.

Students should be able to read simple Hebrew text/stories for meaning. Conversation focuses on stories, students' daily lives, families, and a bit of news. Includes practical grammar.

Cost: $195 includes materials. All classes are 11 week sessions and last 1.25 hours by Zoom.

Register for all classes here.
