Intro to Judaism

Introduction to Judaism Spring Trimester
Wednesday, March 20, 7:00 – 8:30pm, Congregation Beth El

This course is open to all — a Jewish adult who wishes to discover or deepen Jewish knowledge, an individual considering choosing Judaism, a non-Jewish person curious to learn more about Judaism, and a non-Jewish person with a Jewish partner who wishes to understand more about their partner's culture and religion. 

Participants register for each trimester separately and trimesters may be taken in any order. This course has a cost of $100/eight-week session. Hebrew Classes


Class G: Beginning Prayerbook for Hebrew Readers 
Wednesdays 6:30 – 7:45pm. New students welcome but not for total beginners. Started March 13.
This class is for those who can minimally decode Hebrew. We will do alot of reading review, learn the basic holiday and Shabbat blessings, and begin a study of the prayer service: its structure, and the meaning of the prayers. Those who wish to learn the chants will have occasion to do so.
It will focus on the first rubric of the Shabbat service, the Shema and Its Blessings. Class meets weekly by zoom, will break for Passover, and will end by June 5.
Class E: Continuing Prayerbook Hebrew  
Mondays 6:30 – 7:45pm. New Students Welcome. Starts April 1.

The class which includes adult B' Mitzvah students as well as others interested in enhancing their understanding and participation in services will focus on the Torah service and the Concluding prayers. It includes practice in reading aloud, help with chanting, some basic Judaica review, and enough grammar to help you read for meaning. Class meets weekly for 11 sessions of 1 1/4 hours each on zoom and will end by the end of June.
Class F: Modern Hebrew Conversation
Tuesdays 5:00 – 6:15 pm. New students welcome. Join anytime. Registration will be prorated. Starts May 7.

Students should be able to read simple Hebrew text/stories for meaning. Conversation focuses on stories, students' daily lives, families, and a bit of news.
